Thought I would see if I could beat this high altitude air stream which has been over Brisbane for the last few weeks. I managed to get a few avis before jupiter went behind my roof gutters. Previously I had been imaging with my 8" but I dragged out my 10" and webcam (quickcam pro 3000), with IR filter and shot a 5fps, 1/10 sec shots for a 1 min avi to give 300 frames. I used a 2x barlow and 320x240 reolution. Processed in Registax 3. After rejecting a few frames I stacked 260 frames from the avi, no resampling or drizzle.
Added another photo from last nights imaging session. For some reason I keep getting similar coloured shots and not as subtle as those as seen on this site. But at least I managed to get Red Jr - which was the purpose of the imaging session. The last one has only 100 best stacked. Looking at the avis I may have enough to do an animation

Very nice Allan! The banding has come up well and the limb of the planet is nice and sharp.

Very nice Allan, your work is always very consistent! Colour balance is better on this one, maybe could be tweaked a bit but it's close.
Have you got a 3x or 4x barlow to increase the image scale? I think your results would start being even better.
I'd also have a go at stacking less frames (try for the 100 best), and it might give it a sharper look.

Brisbane really put in the good sky last night Allan. Glad to see you got out to make the most of it. Nice shot :cool2:

Thanks for the nice comments- guys. Unfortunately the webcam becomes too slow on my current laptop at 640x480 and starts dropping frames. May have to steal my wife's laptop. I have some other avis that I will process and I think there is better detail in them.

what frame rate do you use when it drops frames?
ASI has an old toshiba that runs easily at 10 fps and 5fps with the toucam.

ditto to dave. If you use 5fps, it should easily handle it at 640x480.

I original message I stated I was shooting 5fps at 1/10 sec. Maybe there is something wrong with setup or drivers. Will have to check.
