Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 MFT has arrived - examples

I can't wait to give this fella a try. At 7.5mm it is equivalent to a 15mm on a 35mm camera. Should deliver some great nightscapes. :thumbsup:

Thanks Mike and Gary :) Hopefully next week some time I have a date with a model who will join me for the day - for a photo session in and around the Rocks and the harbour foreshore/Opera House. She'll be bringing a bag full of rockabilly skirts and frilly things that she wants to create a portfolio from. Apparently she likes my street stuff and is keen to have me do it. Sounds like a day in heaven. She's not shy with the camera either - so we should be able to get some great shots that others might not otherwise attempt. Can't wait! :D

Sounds like fun, but I can't see the 7.5 being the lens of choice? Well maybe I can.

LOL.. No, it's just one in the kit. Most of the work will be done with the 75mm f/1.8.

I have a Samyang 24mm F1.4 on the way for the same purpose.

Samyangs review well. I hope variability between copies is not an issue though.

Seems to be pretty good around the house. Pin-sharp edge to edge. I'l try to get out with it this weekend.

OK - here are the first tests that I've done with the Rokinon. Generally I'm very pleased indeed. Sharp to the corners, no discernible vignetting and reasonably resistant to flare. What does annoy the hell out of me is having to tuck everything in - strap, fingers, feet & ground shadow. Thi sthing is wiiiiiiiiiide.

PS - loss of detail in these images is due to the downsampling to 200kb, nothing more. It ruins them, but you get the idea. The originals are sharp as a tack.

Other examples I've seen with this lens the fish-eye seems more pronounced, have you reduced the effect at all?

Thanks fellas. :) Deeno - the effect seems to be pretty controllable. It simply depends on whether you are tilted up, down or level in respect to your horizon lines. Of course, vertical straight edges will exacerbate it.

Well, I'm in the city about to go down to Circular Quay and meet my model friend for a days shooting of her in various dresses and costumes. Should be a blast. Damn this hangover! :) LOL
