I seen a bit of discussion re version 3.28 in beta stage that was a few months ago . What about version 3.30 beta any takers on this yet ?

There are a couple of threads on Stargazers Lounge and Cloudy Nights.
The 3.30 beta is unified - it can be used for both AZ and EQ mounts, which is pretty handy - if you have both, you effectively have a spare hand controller.
Apparently it auto-detects whether it's plugged into an AZ or EQ mount. I figure there must also be an override, since the upcoming AZ-EQ6-GT mount can do both. That new mount might also have been the catalyst for unified firmware development.
Beyond that, the general impression seems to be that it's much the same as 3.28 beta in features.

I have an neq6 and upgraded the firmware to the 3.30 b29
I gave the polar realignment option a go. i alligned manually first getting as close to scp as i could with the polar scope. (hard when perth is directly south of me)
i first did a 3 star align, once that is done it shows me how far out it thinks my polar align is which is neat. it tells me im about half a degree out az an el
next i selected the polar realign option. It slews close to Alpha cent and I centre alpha cent with the handset as it asks me to then hit enter.
The neq then slews just off and asks me to adjust the bolts. ( at this point i notice that it is wanting me to adjust away from scp the amount its out.
I adjust it anyway, do a 3 star alignment again and it tells me im now about 1 degree out.
i repeat the process and then it tells me im 2 degrees out.
rinse repeat and i get 4 -5 deg out.
dont think im doing anything wrong with it. but seems it still has beta bugs although others have reported its fine.
anyone else had dealings with 3.30 in southern hemisphere

It worked fine for me. I did the 3 star align, and then the manual adjustments using the bolts. Did the whole process a second time and the results were near perfect polar alignment. Just make sure you pick a good set of stars and it seems to work a treat.
Remember when it slews away, you have to re-centre the star *using the manual bolts* not the hand controller.
I used it with the QHY8 camera to centre it, and it was incredibly accurate that way. Not sure how it goes using an eyepiece.

Eqmod here but will give it a go on the goto dob, that does sound great if the controller will work with both the eq and dob though as that leaves a spare :) Has it being tested and proven yet that both hand-controllers are backwards compatible after the flash or does the firmware just just detect if its an az or eq and flash with needed data for said controller?

i found the 2.28 software on the ca.skywatcher site. and that works perfectly using the same method as i did with the 3.30. i guess that firmware didnt like my mount

The new beta seems to have a gaggle of new functions. Does anyone know how they all work? Evan

There's a new beta out: SynScanV0332AZEQB05. This is supposed to be the last beta before the production version.

Downloaded and applied the latest 3.32 firmware. I find that i ahve the same problem as i did with 3.30 when polar aligning. it just aligns me away from the SCP. very frustrating. I tried reseting the controller to factory. dont know what else to try
using version 3.28 beta works fine

It works quite well on my HQE5 and it is much faster then drift alignment.
Just remember for new setting to take effect you have to park the scope, switch it off and restart. When the controller ask you if you want to start from saved position - answer no and do new star alignment.
