Took my first night photos from the new property on Sunday morning after moon set, nothing special just simple single short exposures without any post processing (old school) - just a bit of fun in the paddock late at night :).... complete with a bad cold :screwy:
Alien Tentacles (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/146248431/original)
Orion and Jupiter (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/146244660/original)
My new Observing area (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/146244689/original)(no scope there yet, just the mount - in the dark on the left)
I kinda just wanted to reflect what each scene looked like to my eye at the time but no doubt more time consuming deeper efforts will be forthcoming once I am living there full time :)...need some better lenses too

When are you replacing the white path lights with red ones? You wouldn't want to spoil that dark sky with your own light pollution. :)

Looks like a great location Mike  Can't wait to see what you can do from there once you are all setup. Great wide fields too. Good to see you picking up a DSLR.

He he cheers guys, thanks for the comments...yes, I'm certainly a fledgling DSLR'er...only my second astro type use of this new camera:newbie:
Andrew - I am an imager you see, so my dark adaption isn't that important :D..having said that, I have angled the garden spot lights down onto the path only and away from the imaging area so the lights are not directly visible when standing up at the scope, ony a glow, I just really need to be able to see the steps when I am carrying the $10K OTA and $10K camera up and down to the mount :eyepop::eyepop:....but I still may make them red as you say

I like the blue moon shot on your page. Looks like a great spot. Some time-lapse above the mist in moonlight would look stunning.
