Hi all,

I got up early this morning and headed in to South Bank to photograph the "Light Sphere", which is an art installation set up as part of the annual Brisbane festival. There's crowds of people in the way later in the day, which I why I wanted to get in early. This coincided nicely with the equinox sunrise, so I decided to capture the latter in the former! Here's the results.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

You manage to take the ordinary and turn it into something special.

Great photo. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks vey much Stu!

These were all taken using my new Tokina 11-16mm lens. First time I've used it stopped down (f/8 or f/9) and it seems to work very nicely for shots like this.

Cheers,
Stephen

Pretty cool Stephen. Has anyone tried a timelapse of this? Around full moon, with boats shooting past could work nicely? Anyone there at night?

Very cool, Stephen!

Agree with Colin, that'd look great at night!

When the Sun's up, you wouldn't dare look at the thing though - so many reflections you could catch one in the eye! :)

Thanks Colin and Mike!

The timelapse idea is a good one, but unfortunately they have very bright LED lights shining from the base of the sculpture and the white gravel (with constrantly changing colour) at night, so the bottom half of the reflection is very bright. it looks great visually, but it makes it very hard to photograph well at night.

Cheers,
Stephen
