Had a very nice night here in Brissie last Saturday. I think I've finally got all the software behaving on the new laptop and the mount was tracking well. Shame about the WWII searchlights and the flood lighting from the friends over the back fence.
In any case I ended up with 35x5 mins worth of HaLRGB.
Still finding galaxies very difficult to process so comments and advice welcome.

Beautiful result. Certainly beats my attempt the other night which had a whole 6 minutes of useful data before the clouds set in. :(
My only recommendation would be that the picture looks a bit grey to me. Maybe every other example I've seen is over saturated but I seem to recall a bit more blue normally visible on the outside of other images.

That looks very nice Peter. Very detailed, great stars. Top self indeed.

Great detail on the galaxy, Peter! Would be nice to see a bit more colour in the stars. Maybe add some shorter exposures with HDR?
The searchlights have been driving me crazy too :mad2:
Cheers,
Rick.

A really excellent image. Sometimes this galaxy is way over processed but I think yours is well done and not over the top. Maybe a little more colour but all other aspects are top notch.

fantastic pic. its funny and irritates the ocd side of me but the galaxy and others like it always seem to be pixelated to me. Rawr if only I could get a higher res... then i see the stars..

What a gorgeous image Peter. I just spent 10 minutes just staring at it. Exploring it's depths.
Thanks for the view. :)

A very respectable NGC 253 Peter. The only thing I might consider is boosting the saturation a bit.
Cheers

That's a very nice job on a target that is more difficult than you would think.
Artistically - I would have rotated it 180 degrees to make the dust lane at the bottom.
Thanks for sharing.
cheers

Great image Peter, some nice detail in the galaxy. A little bit of star colour might be nice but great result considering the conditions
The reds/pinks are coming through. You'd have to be happy with that for a Sat night new moon effort Peter!
(Hope you're feeling better now than a month ago too)

Thanks for all the feedback. I've had a go at boosting the star colour.
