hello people,
i'm staying in wollongong for a while while i wait for my uk visa to be sorted and although the garden where i'm staying (figtree) is way darker than i'm used to in the uk i'd like to get somewhere as dark as possible within say 1 hr of wollongong. if anyone has any sugestions it would be much appreciated. i've only got a little 130 heritage so chucking it in the back seat of the car is not going to be a problem. what i'd really like to do is some wide field photography with my 1100d on a tripod. milkyway is so much brighter down here.
thanks for taking the time to read this:thanx:

About an hour from Figtree (according to Google Maps) would get you to say Kangaroo Valley - I don't have anywhere specific in mind there though.

Seven Mile Beach might be worth considering. I'd suggest you would want to be going away from the Sydney glow, so I'd suggest south or southwest.

If you can stretch your travel time to say 2.5 hours, Kioloa on the south coast has some very dark skies according to the light pollution maps.

Just up in the hills at Robertson - just go up the MacQuarrie Pass out of Albion Park and there's even a pub near by. Should be some dark sites there.
