Tried to increase image size by placing 2x barlow in front of diagonal. This worked but the seeing went to $!$#@ after a few avi taken. Will have to try again later

Very nice colour variation in that shot Allan.

Like a lot of us, just need the seeing conditions to improve and then Jupiter will be shot from Cockaleechie-Brisbane-Hobart and beyond.

I packed up about 11pm last night as Io was just coming out from behind Jupiter but Jupiter was just going behind my roof line. This weekend I will take out my 10" and Losmandy and get serious by doing an allnighter as I want to get GRS and LRS

Nice shot Alan. You've got a bit of Blue bias. What's the camera?

Yes I think my idea of colour balance is way off. The camera is a modded quickcam pro 3000. Scope was an 8" sct with 2x barlow and NIR filter. Interestingly I cant push the wavelets of the avis that I took too much or they are mush. The blue channel may as well not exist as its totally washed out and messy with no detail. Thats why I figured the seeing wasn't too good. That along with a fair degree of movement in the image while taking avis.
Had another go at colour balancing the photo which I hope is a little better.

Second one looks much better with the balance. The NIR filter, is that a near infra-red filter - if so wouldn't that exclude much of your R,G,B?

I had the scope out cooling last night, but after seeing the Jetstream prediction decided to pack it in without so much as a look at what the seeing really was like - at least I got some sleep:D

Yes , its a near infra red filter. I thought that it transmitted most of the colour specrum but cut down on IR - thats why its used on achromatic scopes with CCD to stop flaring of ir transmitting stars. Its a Sirius optics filter and from their spectral data it should be OK but may also gve me a slight colour bias towards blue. From their data "The NIR1 blocking filter all but eliminates this near infrared (700-950 nm wavelength) radiation, while keeping transmission levels very high across the visible spectrum". Dont tell me I have to do some sort of testing to see what is the best. I had imaged without the filter and it seems better with it.
