Material = PLATE GLASS.
14 /1/2" (368mm) diameter x 25mm thick and has been hogged and smoothed to about a f4.6 curve (5mm deep).

Price - $120 + shipping

Shipping costs would depend on distance and weight. By the time I got it into a ply box and packed up snice'ntite, I guess it would weigh 10-12 kg. According to AusPost, that would be $22.35 (Melb or Bris), $25.95 (A'de), or $44.55 P'th). Of course pickup in The Blue Mountains or Aurburn would be fine.

Price drop to $80 + shipping.

Hi Andy,
I didn't do the hogging or start the fine grinding so I can't comment on the tool/mirror match but the surface does appear smooth and even. I'd guess it's a good spheroid. There is a lot of work to do before it's ready to polish.

Someone who's mailbox is full asks in a PM...
-How much do you reckon would be involved to finish of the mirror? Or would it be too big a job for a first project for me?

Hi,

If you have never made a 6" or 8" mirror before, then you'd be looking at a very steep learning curve to climb to turn this blank into an astronomical objective. Not an impossible task for someone patient and determined, perhaps with a knowledgable friend who can give in-person advice, or even a helpful online forum to guide you...:thumbsup:
