I am happiest with this image so far. It turned out better than I had expected and I made some improvements to my processing routine.
White balance is the tricky part. The Nikon D800E seems as per some
internet posts a little green biased and you have to tame that. In terrestial photography I have not seen that but in nightscapes it seems to show up. Apart from that it has sensational sensitivity and high ISO performance which is very clean.

11 panel mosaic (2 rows) 30 seconds ISO6400 21mm (14-24mm F2.8 lens) at F2.8.

They are all very dramatic shots, Greg!

Thanks Rick.

I think I have settled on a formula. Not 100% sure yet of ISO6400 versus ISO12800. I think I lose a bit of dynamic range at ISO12800
but I have to check out the processing a bit more.

And so you should be Greg. It's awesome  Easily my favorite of your nightsky scapes so far. Superb processing.

Thanks Greg!

I just finished a similar shot done at IS0 12800 which I'll post. Not sure still about the benefits of ISO12800. At some point a drop in dynamic range will show up. I think its just starting to at ISO12800 but it is quite bright. Again I am not sure if you can achieve the same level of brightness with curves on ISO6400 as using the higher ISO12800.
