At 11:35:30 UT this morning (September 10 UT) Dan Petersen saw a bright flash on Jupiter, lasting between 1 and 2 seconds, possibly very similar to the two fireballs that were recorded in 2010.
He records the location as (system1) 335 degrees longitude and latitude +12. This location will be visible to us tomorrow morning (Wednesday morning) so if you have a chance to take a look and record some images of Jupiter then please do.
Most likely this is another "transient" atmospheric fireball, but you never know if it might have reached the clouds and left a mark for us to see :-)

Exciting stuff Bird, brings back memories from 2010. The frame from the video certainly looks a lot like your data from 2010.

Just been checking the Wind Shear Charts for the morning Bird, looks about as bad as it gets out here but Skippy Sky is predicting very good transparency with poor seeing although it should be clear. Looks like cloudy for you in the early morning.

I was planning to start dismantling the scope today and packing it up ready for departure on Friday, but I'll delay that for a day now so I can have a look in the morning...

Tried to image Jupiter this morning, worst seeing I have ever encountered. I have a blob with a couple of bands.
I hope someone got some pictures.

I have good coverage of the impact co-ordinates crossing the CM, the seeing was 4 to 5/10 and there appeared to be no distinctive feature or scar. I am processing my data now and hope to come up with some reasonable animations to post later in day.

Cloud, trees and roof at the observatory make this a bust for me. It appears though it was transient though. No scar on images this morning. Still means it must happen often and that means more chances.

Great stuff! Watched the actual video not long ago which certainly more than proves it was an impact.
