See attached SMH article. Voyager 1 could enter interstellar space any day now. That is pretty cool I reckon.

Thanks for the link Aidan, a very interesting article.

It's really amazing how far the Voyagers have travelled, I'll be interested to see what sort of data comes back after they leave the protective bubble.

Hi Aldan,:)

I am looking forward to the craft escaping the bubble. What does it hold?:confused2:

Cheers:)

I have been following the exploits of Voyager for many years now. I was a kid when she beamed those incredible images of Jupiter back to Earth in the 70's.

It literally sends shivers down my spine to realise where Voyager 1 is now and that the spaceprobe may enter interstellar space soon.

Awsome stuff

It also puts into some perspective the distances involved.

More than three decades to travel to the edge. Yet hardly any closer to any stars. Let alone inter-galactic distances. Wow! It is truly amazing. How can it be made possible to reach the stars?

Cheers:)

Quite an interesting article thanks for posting that. For the team involved in monitoring the Voyagers progress, must be a thrill to see the new data coming in.

I read this in the article:

and then thought, "but what if aliens enter the solar system from the other side?"

The Voyager probes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w5sE82dKV0 will be only ONE light day from earth in around 2035

Doesnt that put it in perspective. Almost 60 years to travel 1 light day.

Yep 21,900 Au years to travel 1 light year.
Lost in Space sent to closest star system Alpha Centauri at 4.37 light years away.......
will take 95,703 Au Years using current technology :eyepop:

Around 382,812 Human generations
