I know it’s only mid-week, but what are your plans for the weekend?
Me? I’m hoping that my new scope turns up Friday or Saturday. Friday night is a write-off... I'm being forced to :drink: But I'm not complaining. According to weatherzone.com.au it’s going to be sunny and calm, about 30 degrees in Ceduna, so Saturday should be a clear, perfect night for my first viewing. Thanks to Mick for pointing out "Cartes du Ciel" to me. I’ve been playing around with it, working out a plan of attack.
So, what are your plans?

mate, I'm working this weekend. nuff said. :( :( :(
Hope you get some viewing sounder. (read with a bit of sarcasm :P)
Even though the Moon doesn’t occult Jupiter in Qld I'm going to have a look, I hope the weather holds. It should still be a wonderful sight from here on Sunday night. :D
I'm going for a short holiday a bit past Torquay to drink lots and use my scope in some semi-dark skies (probably before the drinking) :)

A number of us local to Brisbane are having a get together up the coast (Nambour) infiltrating "1ponders" (aka Paul's) abode and the Mapleton Observatory on Saturday night. I'm sure some stories will flow from the evening and will appear in a forum near this one (perhaps with some choice (read:uncensoured) piccies). Better leave your lovely pink dress and fishnet stockings at home this time Striker :-))

Watching the first round of Super12 Rugby. Bring it on!
Oh and of course, doing some imaging if the skies are clear!
Cheers

Well I got the top plate back from the machinist with the holes to fit the super wedge of my lx200, so I will be fitting the top plate and wedge to the new pier (see blackwood observatory), that is if my back is better. If not I will be spending the weekend flat on my back and in pain.
However, even if I can fit the top plate, no observing yet. I need to build the deck first and even then I have been told that I am not to do any heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks after this back problem is fixed. So that rules out the Lx200 being lifted into place. Unless I can con one of my mates into placing it into position for me.
Oh well that is my plans.

Just got home for lunch and there's no sign of it yet.
Knowing my luck it'll turn up next week. I'm out of town from Wednesday to Sunday. Argh!

Tomorrow i'm going on a Jet boat ride around Sydney Harbour, it was one of my bday presents.
And i'll be installing the DSC's on my base over the weekend, and if the weather is good, i'll be finishing testing the eyepieces so I can write the reviews of them!

 It turned up after lunch today. I cancelled the :drink: to put it together and test it out.
I impatiently waited for the sun to go down and proceeded to check out random stars to line up the finder scope and get the feel of whole thing. I pointed it at what I thought should be Saturn and WOW, pretty spectacular.
I need to do a bit of fine tuning, like loosen up the bolt on the base plate, to let it turn a bit more freely. It's also a bit top heavy when trying to view something closer to the horizon.
All in all, I'm very happy with it.
And I've gotta say I'm very happy with the service provided by Andrews Communications. The order was placed Monday lunch time and it arrived in middle-of-nowhere, SA on Friday. Lee answered all my email queries promptly as well.
Anyway, back outside to look at the moon.
