Hi all,
Managed to capture a handful of videos late this morning before it clouded over - maybe rain in Brisbane?
There has been quite a few Solar posts of late - great to see!
These were LS60 with the DMK51 and tweaked in Registax (I tried another stacking programme with lesser results - more practice required). Exp 1/185 Gamma 55 on the darker image, Gamma 230 on the lighter one.
I coloured image 2 too!
See you all in about 2 weeks - off to the US.

Hey Matt
Nice set, those full disks are looking great. Are you flat fielding or using synthetic flats?
Ted

Hi Ted - thanks!
No flats I just whack in the imager and take pics.
I know about flats - unfocussed frames to blend differences in brightness - what are flat fields and synthetic flats?

Matt,
Great images, your solar full disc images are getting better and better.

Have a safe trip.

Fernando

PS: Synthetic flat is a flat frame that you extract from the image containing the gradient you want to fix. Normally the synthetic flat is generated applying Median Filters with a high pixel area. The result is a blurred version of the original image but with the gradient embedded. This frame is then subtracted from the original image with some adjust in the opacity. The final image will have a uniform luminance level.
