Hi all

Would anyone out there have the best peir measurements.

What i'm after is: The height from ground level
The size and thickness of the top plate.
And any other revelent info.

Now i have the square tude steel which is 125mm square, there's plenty of length with it, so it can go as deep as required, and the hole is dug.
It's probably more the size of the top plate that i want to weld on before i bury it, that would be easier than trying to weld it later, and upsise down in the bargain.

thanks.

Leon

Hi

I will try and give an answer based on my experience with piers. To work out your height above ground you are going to have to measure the height of your mounting, ie is it GEM or Fork, take into account if you are going to have a deck around the pier, the height of that deck above ground level allowing for any clearance, this will give you the height above groundlevel. (in my case it was 50 inches) You also might want to factor in your height as well. As far as depth, not less than 1.5 meters, again depending on height, leave the end that is in the ground open to allow condensation to run out. The Top Plate should be made of steel not less than 3/8 thick", I used 1/2", you have square tube, with, I assume, reasonable walls, round off the corners of the plate to avoid accidents in the dark, and, if it was me, I would probably have 2 top plates to get my levels spot on. Can't give you a size without knowing what your mounting is going to be.

Hope this helps a little.
