Just wondering if anyone uses DSLR Focus with their Autostar controller. I just purchased DSLR Focus and while reading the manual I noticed it mentioned it can connect with the Autostar controller (which I have). Any good or bad comments?

Hi
I, among others here, use DSLRFocus, but I use manual control, as far as I am aware it will control an AutoStar Controller, and many others, vide the ASCOM Interface. I use Star Atlas Pro to goto whatever object, then use DSLRFocus to get my focus correct and to control my exposure sequences.
I have had nothing but excellent results using the program. Depending on what camera you are using, you may have to think about additional cables for long exposure.

I'm about to try it out ( when The skies clear!).
Just purchased a 350D and built the parallel and serial cables ( the serial seems to work fine but the parallel for some reason looks a bit iffy)
I've got a TV systems EQ mount converted to Autostar ( DS motors etc) and use AstroPlanner/ TheSkyV6 etc. I'm hoping to be able to set it up to assist in getting autoguiding ( using a Mod webcam and/or ST4) for my new MkII spectroscope. It would be great to be able to set up a few stars for recording and have the telescope automated to pull the spectra ( I'll need exposures of up to 30min total per star!!!!)
Also re-buildng my 18" to a lighter Porter Split ring mounting ( should only weigh 40Kg all up!!) a bit easier than the dobbie, but still using Bartel drives.
Keep you guys posted.
