I managed to squeeze some imaging and me time last night before the moon rose. This a field taken around the two celestial birds, the swan and the eagle in scutum. SMC Pentax - M 100mm stopped at F/5.6 - 20x10min in Ha with the QHY9 at -20c. Haven't imaged in ages so maybe a tad out of focus.

Perfect night last night. No dew, no wind and no moon until 10ish. I left the scope out, just covered it today so maybe tonight I try something else like M8.

Big one here (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pk7T0dvgHoie7R5h4CZsJ5WeJRnvtlDTr TuOc2LqWCiidf7UC0HNsOmKyAXGCKuCwOMO WdgEN9htD6mpmuFs6KQ/scutum_ha_100mm_ff.jpg?psid=1). Will try to add some plate solve later on.

PS: Added a negative platesolve of the area here (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pOdZMDhW-8BN_PDimXcthO559hmYP6LUERSILmixeebx UW_Bq8_VrbOuES2yEVVzHPJHRoFd8Dni_6d 2tllv1TA/scutum_ha_100mm_ff_T.jpg?psid=1).

PSS: Added M8/20 from tonight. Again 20x10min. Big one here (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pdLPf2r8x3o3EOYWXX-6wmEFUYohxW6-psOkqJ6IbSrqfiGz8jULC1dleqBGSuexoHk NWNbNmIr0THW812KQ10Q/sagittarius_ha_100mm_ff.jpg?psid=1) . :)

PSSS: Another clear night so I added one panel centered around IC1284. Maybe I can mosaic the three if I have any overlap. Big one here (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1prowEKFhyCpxwqU_ghdKEF4dKX7Da1Lwo YpO-rh58qIprDtZWSp6OL81X1xcVHQcYtQwSkBq W_36NnvoODxbqHw/sagittarius_cloud_ha_100mm_ff.jpg?p sid=1)and platesolve here (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pA08iZD7A8dzXWiWx2F8v8M9tZxCi1IvW lrntITdY2MVyP7dlbWUZ_rEto2Oz8JBGwEs qZTwj59Qll2ExQ-WFeg/sagittarius_cloud_ha_100mm_ff_T.jpg ?psid=1).

Thanks guys. Glad you liked the field. This lens is a little small in aperture and stopping doesn't help so I might look around for a larger format in the same FL in the near future maybe a 6x7.

Love that widefield Marc. Honestly, I think there's not enough of it at this particular field of view, showing things in their context but still showing enough detail - nice! :thumbsup:Would definitely like to see more from this setup.

You have got some additional detail in your highlights that you could maybe tease out without going all HDR-crazy, if you feel it would add to the image ofcourse... (see attached for a one-click example).

Cheers,

Thanks mate. I did try not to go HDR crazy yeah but I like what you got.
Btw it was 150mm not 100mm. I can't read inglese. :P

Marc that is a very nice narrowband widefield.

Hi Marc,

Excellent looking photos.

The 100mm gives a great wide FOV.

Nice monochrome processing....great tonal range.

Thanks.

Ross.

You are becoming the Aussie John Gleason (with a French accent )

That lens does well

Thanks a lot Ted. Glad you like it

Thanks mate. It was 150mm actually. Got the lenses mixed up.

Thanks mike. Yeah they're alright those Pentax lenses. I'm a big fan of John Gleason's work. Very cool stuff. I do nothing like he does though. Just a few Ha shots from the burbs under the moon. Having fun when it's not raining and nothing's on telly. ;)
