Not received anything Pete as yet and consider that this is a no show for me.

I note our images are in the pile of images being promoted but I doubt this means we are winners. Unless you know something else mate. ;)

Not received anything today yet but it is still mid morning at this stage. I have seen some images being named as short listed (telegraph UK) and my solar image is one of them but nothing from ROG yet

Not hold my breath JJJ, going to bed soon and expect nothing. I think that we would have been told by now, especially if the invites are going out today. Then again I got the invite last year and then not long after I got an email about being in the top 5 for my section. It will be what it will be. :)

I still haven't got anything, if they are still to send them out they are cutting it close.

Ok some news.

This year all shortlisted persons will be sent an invitation, those will be sent shortly.

Where it has differed from previous years no one will be told if they made the top 5 or not. Everyone will find out on the night who are the winners, runner ups and honourable mentions. So sit tight and wait it out now.

I know this because the ROG team sent me an email to a question I posted on Flickr.:)

Well done Paul.... and my apologies if I caused some undue excitement...
 I should have known tabloids never get it right!

Yeah maybe the reverse this time perhaps. My image gets around every where and then I win nothing.

Yep got mine too. All shortlisted images will get an invite. That is about 100 invites.

A pity they changed the date.......will have to be elsewhere, so a no-show from me.:(

Yeh I seriously doubt that the selection of 12 images they have shown as finalists are ALL winners, runners up etc, for at least marketing purposes anyway. Why would you show all the winners prior to awarding them so that websites can post them and then post the same ones after the awards night? The media wouldn't be as interested in showing the winners then I wouldn't think. I think they have shown a selection probably to whet the appetite with possibly a winner or two in the mix. Or maybe their media group has selected some speccy images for publicity which may or may not correspond to any that have won awards but look good published, similar to this year's Malins (the photo editor's choice awards). So good luck everyone!

Hi Peter

Saw you at the Australian Museum Eureka awards last week with that fabulous solar image (I assume it is the same Peter Ward;)).
Well done.

To be sure, one and 't same...but now realise I needed to photograph a fish to do any good on the night :). Had fantastic evening just the same !

Peter, what you are running up against is the rarity of the photo. Whales mating you can't photograph every day. The Sun in the sky you can (except in Melbourne).

Unusual wins. Add "cute" animals and it's no contest.

You got beaten into 3rd by two fish (well one was fish-like) I got pipped into second by two flies!

An astro image has yet to make the top spot at the Eureka's...sooo the door is still open ;)

The winning photo of the humpbacks was stunning but the description of the photo on the night was a bit focused on the actual act than the picture itself- hilarious.
Perhaps a shot of the Pisces or Cetus regions might stand a chance:D

Well as of yesterday I've booked flights to London to attend the awards. I need a holiday and never been there, and it's quiet at work so I thought why the hell not! Flying into Amsterdam via Dubai next week then on to London on the 17th, then back home through Dubai for a couple of days - and all on the A380 too!
Should be great to experience the awards and talk to fellow photographers, and even better if one of the Aussie shortlisted entrants get up! Might start the old Oi! Oi! Oi! routine... or maybe not.
