Just arrived in Strahen on the west cost of Tasmania and leaving for the in-laws on the tassie penninsular tomorrow. Still had a good time at the cradle mountain area and saw my first snow since i was 10 years old. The cradle mountain was elusive and only just peaked through the cloud and mist just as I was about to leave the viewing area. Still here are some of my first pics, taken with my new Canon 650D and the 18-135mm lens.

all the best

Hi Paul
I worked up that way for four years beautiful scenery
But when the weather comes in horizontal it gets cold and miserable
Even on ordinary days it still looks good

Nice shots Paul  I was at Cradle Mountain six days ago. It was snowing while I was there, but it looks like they have had a lot more since I left. I think I could do that walk around Dove Lake every single day of the year and not get sick of it. I did it three times and I was only there for about 20 hours. Still working on the pictures.

You've got some great colour around the boat house considering the grey conditions!

Magical spot...

I agree David being from WA I definitly brought my thermal underware.

Thanks Greg, I've been married to a Tassi girl for 27 years but it's only in the last 2 that I have actually visited here. I think that the scenery is so nice just about every corner you take in some places leads you to more scenic wonders. I'm looking forward to coming back in summer and seeing Dove lake etc. The West coast is so dfferent with the browns so prevelant. This comes from the button grass and is so dominant that the rivers run brown rom the tannin that they contain.

all the best

Paul
