Hi all,

I was doing a quick dash of observing tonight - cutting up from Aquila along the Milky Way. I tried a few PNs including IC 1295. At low power with no filter I thought I could just make out a large, faint ball. It was difficult to be sure (early night observing in town after all), so I switched to OIII. Wow! What a difference an OIII filter can make. It was a very distinct large ball with no apparent central star. I was struck by the size of it considering it is not an object we hear about very often.

I observed also NGC 6751 which was much more distinct (and smaller), plus a handful of GC (eg 6712, 6517, 6539). However, the "object of the night: definitely goes to the little heard of IC 1295 - for its ability to appear under OIII. :)

P.S. I just realised that NGC 6539 is a new GC for me!! Yippee! I am now at 80 GCs!
