I just have one of these

It bolts directly to the stock focussed with no modification and supports my heavy spectrograph with no problem.

Hi Terry
Thank you for that useful information.:)
Does fitting the motorised focuser still allow you manually use the Vixen rack and pinion, or do you have to use the hand control unit to wind the focus tube in-and-out?
Cheers

No, you cant use it manually but there is a speed controller and it is very easy to use. I have had mine for years and I have never changed the 9v battery in it.
It is cheap and very effective. The rack and pinion focusser is quite sturdy and the electric focusser makes small movements easy to achieve. I use a Bahtinov mask to set focus and rately have to change it. My scope is permanently set up and will often go weeks without needing to change the focus.

The motor and hand controller is 1 unit. It all comes with it.
I just made my own Bahtinov mask using foamboard.
