We all know large aperture = great viewing, however if you have excellent optics then you'll see detail other scopes are just not capable of resolving. Pop in the Hoteck and collimate in seconds, turn on the servocat and align the Argo Navis now start your adventure.
This discovery dob when conditions present will resolve festoons of swirling cloud on Jupiters magical surface, red and blue, brown and purple and the red spot and, Galilean moons show as disks and throw black shadows on the planet's surface as they transit. Saturn will provide crisp breathtaking images of the rings and surface shadows. This mirror with my 13mm ethos has simply amazed countless people young and old. I have experienced nights when the 6mm Delos at 370x has performed beautifully!
The deep space viewing is where the light gathering really comes into its own, globulars are magic, nebula and galaxies the contrast is crisp and rewarding, drop in the 31mm nagler and your eyes will pop! I suppose you're wondering why I'm selling such a good scope.... I have ordered a SDM with the works with 6.5" more mirror. Peter should be delivering the new scope end of 2013. I have taken a leap to my dream machine for visual astronomy and am now very poor... oh well!
I'm going to sell this scope to someone who appreciates visual astronomy, this is a working scope you won't worry about packing into your vehicle and rolling out on ground wherever you go. There is no beautiful finish to scratch and mark, the money has been spent on the optics and the components that make this scope perform like scopes more than twice the price.
