Here are a couple of shots I captured on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at "The Spit", Somerset Dam. It was lovely, cold and still to begin with so I got some reflections but then the wind picked up and alas, that was over :( They aren't super sharp but I really wanted to capture detail in the Milky Way :)

Very nice Shelley.

Lake reflections are a great foreground for Milky Way shots.

Greg.

Thanks very much Greg, Mike and Deeno! :) I had fun with the reflections. Would love to get back there for next new moon and try again!

Lovely widefields there Shelley (both here and your other thread) I have been wanting to do a Milky Way reflections shot for ages, but have not found the right location/conditions yet.

Hi Shelley. Nice composition with the cross and pointers reflected in the water. The only comment I could make is perhaps it needs to be a little lighter, but maybe its just my laptop screen, otherwise very pretty.

Thanks very much Greg! It was a great location for it but the wind picked up unfortunately! We were also worried if we went back next time that they'd close the gates on us! Would just mean lugging all our equipment from the car park so might head that way again next new moon :)

Thanks Terry! It is a little dark but the more I lighten it, the more weird yellowy light pollution that shows up. I may try to re-edit this or just try for a re-shoot next new moon and hope for a still night :) This was the best I got before the water was moving too much.

Thanks again Ross! Was hoping for better but alas, wind :( Maybe next time!

Yes, yes, yes! I miss our brief Somerset adventures, we should organise something next new moon :) We even put on the cloud chant at Moogerah and had a good ol' giggle :D

The cloud chant was used quite frequently at Astrofest. LOL With at least 5 of us going for it and the video on loud speakers. LOL It was hilarious.
