poke in the eye JUPITER - Anzac day special

Hi All, a couple of snaps from the very very wee hours of this morning. Earlier seeing was 2-3/10 and peaked just after midnight around 4/10 when these were taken.

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick... not sure about a kick in the teeth though:P ;)

The detail is there but obscured by grain and a little oniony. Transparency wasn't great so gain up and with the poor seeing could only stack 100-200 or so frames so grain from that.

Just remind me of your process in AstraImage. Are you performing LR on R,G and B??? And what are the numbers you are working re: iterations and radius?

Hey Matt, yeh I split the image into R,G and B and run LR deconvolution on each. How much and what radius depends a bit on each image. For these I did 3 iterations at 1.3 curve radius.

To extend what Robert said, the better quality image you have to start with, the more you can push the LR deconvolution step (ie: more iterations and/or a larger curve radius).

If you had bad seeing or you've processed hard already in registax, then the LR deconvolution can only do so much before you make it grainy or bring out onion rings etc.

Nice images mate - I should have 'phoned you and told you to stay in bed as the seeing was quite poor. I gave up around midnight and played with the Pentax DSLR instead which is a whole new ball game.

Don't know what happened. Something kinda changed. One day, I woke up and found our Solar System, well, too small a backyard to play in. So, I've emigrated to intergalactic space to play with the big boys, the faint photon catchers from deep, outer space....;)

Oh, also, whilst I remember, all you other C9.25 owners, along with the likes of Mike, Dave and Bird have set the bar way toooo high for me for Jupiter and I'm feeling a little flat footed lately. :whistle:
