Hi all,

This is my first attempt at HDR. Original photographs were quite clear and blue, the HDR effect on CS6 seemed to bring out all the smog ...

Thanks for looking :)

Notice how the HDR process has left a halo over the buildings? This is why you're noticing the "smog"; the underexposed image is being bled into the 0 EV image. The same thing is happening to the water -- 0 EV is being mixed with -1 EV and +1 EV.

HDR is not the best way to expose the sky and maintain detail in the foreground. Manually blending a couple of exposures, where you have complete control is one way, or, using neutral density filters (my preferred method) gives the most natural looking image.

At the end of the day, it's what you want the final result to look like -- if this is what you envisioned in your head when you took the image, then, you've achieved your goal.

Thanks Steve :thanx:

I really appreciate the feedback Octane I will take it on board and teach myself some blending skills on CS6. The image was not what I envisaged but more so one of my first trial runs at HDR ... all guess work. Could I reproduce it, probably not. Its a steep learning curb but I have my hiking boot on
