Hi All,
I took this at 1:30 this morning after waiting for the moonrise. View from South to North. Some of you might know the letterbox on the road to the observatory.

Details;
3 exp's ~60sec each 11mm @2.8 Tokina on Cannon 7D, ISO3200
Stiched in Pano Pro adjusted in GIMP.:)

Very nice work Jeff :thumbsup: I was just out shooting at the same time. The moon rising in the east really helped light up the landscape well. If I may offer a critique: Your 60 second exposure time is too long for this type of shot and has lead to noticeable star movement. With that lens/camera/fixed tripod combo I would be sticking to a maximum exposure time of about 30 seconds.

Agreed.:thumbsup:
In the light of dawn, this one was the set before.
Same details except 5x30sec exp and slightly cropped to get under size limit.

Very nice. The first shot I agree 60 seconds is too long untracked.
30 seconds is pushing it at 14mm with a full frame and probably is the max.

You could select out the foreground using the magic wand tool in Photoshop and run some noise reduction on that area only to get a slight gain overall.

Greg.

Nice work Jeff! I've just picked up the Tokina and gave it a test last night - looks like a great lens for this sort of thing!

Cheers,
Stephen
