After the rest of our group had headed back to their tents after a sunset shoot, Sue and I stayed on the Western Beach at Cape Leveque (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/tag/cape-leveque) waiting for the sky to get darker for some nightscape shots. The twilight colours combined with the red rock cliffs, the beautiful white sand and the blue water made a very picturesque scene.

The first shot is a 5 second exposure with a Canon 5D Mk 2, Samyang 14mm lens, ISO500. The southern cross can just be seen starting to shine through the twilight sky.

The jagged cliffs of Cape Leveque are just beautiful and every little alcove provides a unique view.

This second shot is a 0.6 second exposure, ISO500

And the last shot shows the twilight turning into night as a 20s exposure reveals more stars (ISO2000). The crescent Moon high in the West illuminates the cliffs.

I've also posted a 3:1 of the first shot, because I'm a fan of 3:1 pano's at the moment but I think I prefer the 2:1 for this shot - the 3:1 felt a bit cramped. Your thoughts?

Just beautifully Mike.
I think the squat nature of the rock formation does suit the pano.

You going to print these Mike, they would make a great book....

beautiful photos I really like No3, the rock in the forefront looks like a hand pointing to the sky ...

Thanks Deeno! I'm hoping to print a few out - not sure about a book but it would certainly be nice to hang a few of these on the wall.

Thanks Leon, I'm still pinching myself that I was there.

Thanks Paddy!

Thanks Carlos, much appreciated.
