For some reason I couldn't image Mars at the time Curiosity landed this afternoon - contrast and transparency were shocking at 3:31pm in Brisbane :)
Here is an attempt about 2 hrs later when conditions vastly improved but the rover had gone over the limb by then....
Canon EOS 600D, 5x Powermate, 2x Barlow, 12" SkyWatcher Goto Dobsonian, manually tracked.
Cheers,
Tom
Nice one Tom, maybe a bit of history there well done indeed.

Thanks Leon. Here's a reworked image with a 3x Drizzle.

Nice one! The complexity of the landing is beyond my imagination.

Nicely imaged Tom. I was also inspired to get out and grab an image of Mars with Saturn and Spica, after watching the live footage of the landing!

Yes...yeees...I can see it, there it is!
I remember looking at Saturn and Titan back in Jan 05 at the very time the Huygens craft descended onto Titan, what an incredible feeling and occurring at a billion km or so from Earth that was an equally amazing mission.
