The same Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Nikkor TC-TC300 2x Tele and Nikkor 300ED f/4.5 as I used on the moon last night. Added was a simple Thousand Oaks disk of solar film.

Again, this apparatus was hand-held and shot at 9fps, leaning against the side of my house. In-body 5-axis image stabiliser logic was again set to 1,000mm (longest). This is also a 100% crop - straight out of the camera and slightly sharpened.

excellent result Chris. Have you considered taking a number of frames and stacking with one of the stacking and sharpening programs? might be worth doing if you can run at 9fps. regards ray

Hi Ray

No, not really. I don't intend to pursue this, it's just an experiment. I find it interesting that I can, in a single frame, capture an acceptably-sharp image using a stock hand-held camera and standard lens at this focal length. Without this new stabilisation system it has not been possible up until now.
