Hey everyone!

I have finally upgraded to a digital slr. I have been using my digital camera and iPhone for taking photos of the night sky and the venus tranist. They have been great, got great photos of the transit.

I just purchased an older model digital SLR, the Canon 350D. It came with 2 lenses (18mm-55mm and 75mm-300mm) and a couple of batteries. I am very very new to the SLR world and still learning how to use the thing, so many more buttons than I am used to!

I have a Celestron 130SLT and am guessing I would need a few adapters to be able to start using the camera for some astrophotography?

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!!

Yep, you will need a Canon T-ring, a T-ring adapter and an extender so the DSLR can achieve focus.
You can find them on line or through Bintel etc.

You need this one http://www.bintel.com.au/Astrophotography/Adapters/Bintel-Camera-Adapter-2-/35/productview.aspx and the t-ring, no idea about backfocus with your scope. The 130 slt is on an alt/az not eq so i don't think long exposures will work :(

Does it matter if it's the 2" or 1.25" adapter?

Just came back from Bintel.

Bought the t-ring canon eos adapter. The guy recommended me to get the Orion $160 camera for planetary stuff because of the type of telescope im using (the mount isn't the best, its a bit wobbly).

I have seen people online using a DSLR with the 130SLT and they got some great pics with it! Kinda made me not sure what to do but I got all the equipment now, I think I need a 1.25" adapter so I can use my Barlow cause I don't use 2" eyepieces.

Hopefully I get some great shots after doing afocal using my iPhone!
