You've got to be kidding Louie, right? Just because people like me don't comment doesn't mean we don't lurk :eyepop:. I always keep an eye out for your images and really appreciated your website and it's tutorials when you had it up and running.

Clear skies and please don't stop posting your images.

Wayne

:lol:Thanks Mike......

Thanks Wayne!I do appreciate the feedback good or bad,and It's always great just hearing from people.

But I think that the hit counter tells the true story whether your work generates any interest, and when that's low It means people find you boring :P

It could be the fact that the same objects are imaged over an over and over again and hell, what can you expect from people except to be bored....:zzz2:

For myself,I'm still relatively new to Astrophotography and so, there's still lots of the common objects I haven't imaged as yet,and or haven't imaged well......I think I'll be doing more boring work for a while yet unfortunately.

Thanks Greg.

Hi Louie,

What a great widefield photo.

I love the golden colours...again so rich and smooth.

The contrast with the dark nebula is striking.

Your QHY8 camera and Takahashi telescope are an awesome widefield combination.

You are treating us all to some amazing images from your Uluru expedition and they are getting better and better.
I am eagerly waiting for the next new moon to see what new amazing images you well present to us.

As Mike and Wayne said, the interest in your images is widespread and deep.
To me you one of an elite group of about 4 astrophotographers on this forum whose work creates excitement and anticipation.
I look forward to your images and I learn so much from them.

As to your concern about the "hit counter". If a count was done of the number of people on this forum and other forums around the world who have been helped by your generous and free tutorials, your feedback, your advice and your encouragement, I think the numbers would overwhelm you!

Take care and please keep those amazing photos coming.

Ross.

Hi there Louie

I don't often visit here, as my main stomping ground is in the observational astronomy forum, but from time to time I have a peek And WoW what a fabulous pic- the detail is astounding! :scared2: I hope you don't mind if I share it on facebook. :D

Looking at this pic reminded me of a funny story, want to hear a funny story ..
Hubby & I are just starting to dabble in DSLR photography using AFocal thru my 10" dob. I tell him what to take by lining up the scope on the target, and he does the photography using our Canon EOS-1100 and I do the processing afterwards (basic processing- I want to keep it simple- I'm a visual observer you now :P ). Basically, he does what he's told :P. Muggins out there is left in the freezing cold after I've given him his jobs, and I come inside to enjoy the heat, a glass of Chardonnay and something on tv. Great team I think.;) So there I was sitting in front of the tv enjoying Desperate Housewives. He races up the steps (he didn't trip this time- he's always falling down them, no joke  ) and tells me with all the excitement of a 6 year old, "I've just put one of the pics up on the computer and zoomed in and you wouldn't believe it" he said to me, "there's hundreds of carbon stars in M6's frame!". :eyepop: "No there isn't" I said as I'm frantically trying to hear what Gabby is saying to Carlos". "Yes there is". "No there is isn't." Then after having to pause the tv , I realised what he was talking about and gave him an education of what happens when you look directly in the core of the milky way and showed him a pic. He knows everything you see, rare is the chance I get to teach him a thing or two. He had a moment of sheer astonishment- he didn't think a simple procedure of AFocal photography in a light polluted backyard could pick up what it did. The joys of astronomy and looking up- always teaching us something and keep us marveling don't they!

Meanwhile I can't wait to show him this pic. Great work Louie!
I might even make up a story for him of that black snake nebula. Naah, better not upset the cameraman.:innocent:

Stunner Louie, stunner.
Where ya bin? I felt you dropped off the radar, or was that me, or both.
Anyway, good to have you back.
Not to sure about the "relatively new" comment though, more a sage old expert I reckon. Your work has always instilled admiration.

Enter it in the Malin's. I got an honourable mention for my rendition! :D

And, as for you being new... if it wasn't for you, your friendship, your guidance, your help and your generosity, I wouldn't be where I am today. I'd also be richer, too. :P

I miss our expeditions together to the Blue Mountains, to the Pony Club, to Coonabarabran...

Please let me know when you're in Sydney next? I would love to catch up with you again.

Your mate,
H
