Jupiter Europa Transit & Shadow 22nd April

Nothing to write home about here guys. Seeing was lousy on the laptop 4-5/10 yet naked eye I'd have sworn it was 7-8/10.

15 FPS @ 1/33rd sec exposure 173 frames stacked of 1000 odd total. Didn't spend long on processing this one, can't turn a sows ear into a silk purse so why try? ;)

Pretty happy, my first Jupiter moon capture & shadow with this scope.

C9.25 & toucam.

With Europa transiting it gives the image a 3D look John.

Nice one John. Interesting settings you used.....15fps and 1/33? I assume you pumped up the gain? My standard settings are 10fps and 1/25.

Hey Asi, how quickly we forget... imagine what you would have thought if you'd got such an image just a couple months ago - over the moon I'd reckon (Europa of COurse :rofl: )? I reckon this is pretty special, moon and shadow very well captured.

You're certainly making up for lost time asi and you must have the collimation and focus caper with the SCT pretty well covered because your images are very sharp! Well done:thumbsup:

You're image looks like it is just just after meridian transit. Would you post the time the avi was taken, as well as how many secs the avi ran form. If you wouldn't mind I'd like to use your image and time in a project I'm working on. PM me for details if you want.

Dennis I captured 3 more AVI's 1 @ 5FPS & 2 @ 10 FPS. (All 1/33rd sec.) This 15 FPS was best by far. Yes I pumped the gain but more so on gamma. My 14th April shots were all @ 15 FPS.

Rob, I'm happy with capturing that transit, more than I let on. The 22nd April 9/10 seeing has spoilt me though. Not happy with the quality on Jupiter thats all. But I'm basically 'over the moon!' about it (pun intended!) he-he!

Go's without saying I'll be re-stacking all the transit AV's looking for a better quality outcome.

Yeah, nailed collimation & focus first night out. Piece of cake compared to my Newt. Next project is building an electric focuser though.

Cooling to ambient is the biggest problem with SCT's I've found. That & seeing conditions. The cooling...well I nipped that in the bud a few days ago. That leaves seeing conditions...Out of my control dammit.

22nd April 06' 10:15:06 pm ACST 75.333 secs. duration. I have 1 AVI taken closer to the exact time of GRS meridian transit: 10:10:19 If you want to use that one? Lower visual quality though. Your choice mate. Yell out if you want me to stack & process & throw it up.
