It was a cloudy, windy new moon night at Peter's place, but some data was collected during the clear moments between 12:30am and 4:30am. Quality of the subs is a bit iffy, but I'm happy to take whatever I can get at present.

About 3 hours of Luminance and 25 minutes each of R, G and B with Tak FSQ-106ED scope, AP900 mount and STL11K camera. I'm not 100% happy with the processing but I'll throw it out there, as is my wont, and take on board any constructive criticism.

Considering the conditions, that look great

Nice colour in the stars and there is plenty of dust. I'd be happy with that one.

I think that's a good effort & you should be happy with it.

I think thats my favourite nebula and you have done it proud. So much in a single frame. If there was a background galaxy it would have it all.

That's a beauty Rick, handled very well and yes it is a favourite area with many people...A good one for a really dark sky with a big fast Newt for sure......I'll give you a race

Very nice image, there is a face on spiral just up from the brightest part of the nebula

Very nice Rick, I would perhaps try to push the luminance even further but it is a very nice rendition already this way. Pinpoint stars there, very sharp :)

Thanks, Allan. It's a busy region! As Peter pointed out there is a tiny galaxy there but only a smudge.

Thanks, Mike. You have a bit of a head start in the fast Newt stakes but I'll see if I can catch up a bit ;)

Thanks, Peter.

I'll give it a go, thanks Marco. I have your Chamaeleon I now as an example of what can be done with lots of great data!

Cheers,
Rick.

Very nice Rick.

More exposure should bring up the dust even more.

Greg.

Nicely done Rick. So much to take in in that section of sky. Do you bin the RGB or go 1x1?

Thanks, Greg. I'd hoped to get a few more hours of data on the night but it was not to be. I'm certainly going to try to add some more at the next opportunity.

Thanks, Louie!

Thanks, Paul. I've done a quick repro tonight and added a new version of the wide field that I think I like better. I stretched things a bit more as Marco suggested and I did some enhancement of the darker dust areas.

Thanks very much, Martin.

Thanks, Peter. I never got into the habit of binning my RGB because my previous camera didn't cope with it very well. It's all 1x1.

Cheers,
Rick.

meh....no hot water for the last 2 days (first shower this arvo was heavenly) , no home phone and no broadband(am using the iPhone) and no gas to cook with . Haven't been able to do much unpacking as I had to go back and wash ceilings and windows and pull weeds at the last house. :( grrrrr
And where the hell is my cutlery and cooking utensils?????

 hee hee you asked.
