All hand held from a moving/tilting platform so very short exposures. :P
Still very noisy obviously but I kept the best(?)

Very nice work for hand held and moving platform Marc  I like the first one best.

Thanks Greg. It's a bummer I couldn't do any longer exposure. The view was really cool. I was using the maximum ISO and shot at 1/2s. Anything over would trail.

This one was taken at sea looking back NE on the boat side. I thought the moon reflection was cool as it clearly defines the horizon line against the dark skies. The close up water is the lighting from the ship and its wake.

Hi Marc

Those conjunction photos have turned out remarkably well considering the bucking platform! The last shot is remarkable in that it shows how dark the skies are down to the horizon – very little of that horrible, glowing band that we see on the horizon, some 10 to 15 degrees wide!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Dennis  Yeah you get out of the Sydney lightdome pretty quick at sea past the heads the sky is still pretty clear and you can see stars right down to the sea level. It's that sharp it almost looks fake.

Although I found the further offshore north the more clouds and humidity in the air. The local skies transparency is much much better than any sky in the islands. It was darker yeah but transparency was very bad around the coral sea.

Unusual to see stars right down to the horizon like that for sure. Great shots for challenging conditions - thanks for sharing with us Marc.
