View Full Version here: : SMC in Hydrogen Alpha
Before I wrap up the night's imaging, I've been adding a few pre-dawn exposures to my SMC project in Hydrogen alpha.
Here's 24 x 2400s, 5nm Ha, FSQ, Proline 16803. I'll add another segment to include 47 Tuc in due time, but the result is looking interesting so far. These structures are very faint and the image has been pushed as far as I dare take it. Note the possible hit of spiral structure. Must do some research on that aspect. For now, enjoy.....

Absolute corker John.
how many panels is this so far?
cheers
Martin
Thanks Martin. Just this one. That's the full field of the FSQ and 16803. I'll work on the 2nd panel with 47 Tuc this morning. Extremely clear over Coona right now.

This has the potential to be an incredible image once the colour is added. I had no idea that the structures in the lower part of the image existed.

Very interesting. I think that a lot of the structures are supernova remnants. I have a 21cm and 13cm radio image of the SMC at home that shows them up. It would be interesting to suerimpose the 2 images.

Wow! :eyepop:
Please do! I'd like to see it.
Yep, they be there and they be faint. I'm still plugging away at this. Not sure how SII and OIII will look for a tri-color attempt. Layering in RGB would be fairly easy me thinks.

A great wide view! Lots of stuff in there that would be interesting at long focal length.

Dear John
I have tried to resize and orient your image to one I have at 21cm that was taken by the ATCA in Narrabri. I have had trouble because your image is a jpeg rather than a fit file so I can't easily overlay a source catalogue. I have resized and oriented the 2 images to give an idea. Most of the radio sources are not stars so do not show up in the optical image. The HII regions do show up in both images.
Terry
Thank you all for the kind comments. I've just finished adding 47 Tuc to the fiield, but still working on the layers.

No, not floss pink. We'll be calling you Mike Magenta - astro imager. Sounds like some kind of action hero.
