Great job Paula! Did you use a Baader solar filter to image this?
Cheers,
Eric

Nice image Paula, lots of good detail on the sunspot groups. Is that a single exposure? The seeing must have been pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was using the baader solar filter. That was just a single exposure but I did take about 100 images but i can't seem to stack the images properly, the final image end up overlapping. Anyone got some tips how to stack the sun?

great detail in those images. Is the colour image the result of the filter or false colour in photoshop? because it really makes the detail pop.
I have had not much luck stacking sun or moon images for that matter:shrug:

The sun can be difficult to stack (at least in white light) because of the lack of features for the stacking program to align on.
I have had good results from AutoStakkert!2, using the Surface image stabilization setting, Gradient quality estimator, and using auto alignment points (Place APs in Grid). My last solar image used ~500 APs (and it took about 2.5 hrs to process).
I used to use Registax (v5 and then v6), but I really would recommend AS!2 over both versions, it is just so much better for multi point alignment, for planets or surfaces.

Thanks guys,
False colour was added in photoshop. I'll have a crack at stacking in AS!2. I might need to start processing and stacking on the desktop PC rather than the lappy, the lappy seems to be freezing up a bit lately.
Great shots Paula, Nice detail in there.
