So on Saturday with everyones attention pretty much turned on the giant prom I whacked the PST on the Polarie and was just trying to come to grips with my DMK41 and the PST in between the clouds to work out what settings and other such things.
This isn't a huge stack due mainly to the clouds which would throw alignment off in registax5 but it's a couple of hundred frames anyway.

I used 1/1250 exposure, gain 260 and gamma 100 which seems OK but due to the hotspot I could go lower but that would be at risk of losing the outer detail.
I don't know should I just try centreing it and dropping the exposure right back?

Anyway this is my effort and I was surprised too that on the second avi there was a bright flare that wasn't there in the first but as it turns out I caught the start of it. It matches up nicely with the M1 on Saturday that was generated by sunspot 1513.

So if you watch in full screen from about 1 minute 30 onwards you can see it develop from nothing.
I thought it was kind of cool.

Cheers, I'm hoping to get some more time in and try with a barlow next time.

Well done!

I am thinking of going solar with my DMK41 once I am more experience. The Moon first!

Cheers,

Eric

Thanks.

Yeah I want to have a crack at the moon too but I've not been feeling the best the last few days and I'm not up to carrying the bigger gear out .
Hopefully soon though.
