SOLD!
6" f3.9 Newtonian custom built CF Astrograph

This newtonian astrograph has been assembled with premium components to optimise it for imaging. It has many
custom machined components to allow it to carry very heavy loads and to piggy back another heavy instrument without flexure.
This is not a lightweight OTA. It was originally designed to carry a large FLI Proline ccd camera and PDF focuser.

FEATURES:
-6" f3.9 full thickness pyrex primary mirror, manufactured by Astro Optical Supplies circa 1985
with very good optical figure
-2.6" Protostar ULF fused quartz secondary mirror, enhanced dielectric coated
-Protostar secondary mirror holder and spider
-brand new Feathertouch 2" focuser and levelling base
-custom made black-anodised primary mirror cell with USB powered fan
-2.5mm wall thickness carbon fibre tube from Public Missiles USA with clear epoxy finish
-custom made black anodised aluminium focuser base with full circumference reinforcing rings either side to prevent camera load flexure
-custom made clear-anodised aluminium tube saddle with over and under heavy duty Losmandy style dovetail and Cassady (USA) saddle plate, designed for zero flexure and carrying very heavy loads.
-Baader 2" coma corrector and Canon EOS T mount (DSLR ready)
-Parts alone worth over twice the asking price.

Reason for selling - superseded by larger 8" newtonian astrograph so it is surplus to needs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SALE PRICE $1700. Pick up preferred; shipping considered within Australia, but at buyers expense (primary mirror would have to be removed to ship safely).

PMs only please.

Thanks for looking!

G'day. Guy...

Could you please post the dimensions and weight of the OTA?

My HEQ5-Pro mount limits me to 12kg.

Thanks,

Alex.

Hi Alex
According to the bathroom scales it weighs in at 8kg, minus the timber dust cap. This weight includes the saddle assembly, corrector etc
Tube is 700mm long and 195 mm OD.
Saddle assembly is about 270x270mm

thanks
Guy

I hope you don't mind the non sequitur, but is that the Widor Toccata you're using as wrapping paper for the mirror cell? : )

Cheers,
Tom

yes - the Toccata from the 5th Symphony for organ.
not wrapping paper however - the manuscript was a good contrast to the anodised aluminium
