View Full Version here: : DMK41 15f.p.s not working?
Today I recieved my DMK41 and weather being off I thought I'd at least install the drivers and IC capture and see if it worked. And for the most part it did work but when I try at 15 f.p.s it sends back an error message saying no images are being sent.
It works at 7.5 and 3 but not 15 and this is just on my laptop as I tried on the PC and it works fine at 15.
Will the DMK run on other capture software that I can try it out on?
I suppose it's possible the lappy isn't powerful enough but it is working on the slower rates.
Any ideas?

G'Day Jarrod.
I've never seen that error, but there's a few things I have come across that will stop it playing at 15 fps.
The first, and obvious one is the exposure time has to be less than 1/15s. It needs time to download the frame after the exposure and before the next frame starts.
Secondly, you will need a reasonable amount of free contiguous disk space. If your lappy has to search for the next free sector to save a frame, it will drop it. I now get into the routine of capture, process and then remove all captured and processed files from the lappy before the next imaging session.
Do you have multiple Imaging Source Cameras? If so, make sure they are all plugged in at once when you install the camera driver(s).
Al.
Hi Al, thanks for the reply.
I will have to check in the morning but I know there are a number of old files on it from my Phillips cam so I will remove them first and I'll look into the contiguous disk space too as it's an older lappy so it could be a problem.
Hopefully though I might have just the wrong setting as it's the first test I have done with it.
It's my first DMK so for now I'm only using the one.
Righto, just checked my settings and removed a couple of files but still no joy.
The actual message is...
Device is in Live mode, but does not seem to deliver images please change video mode or reset device...
I checked with sharpcap and it would work fine until 15 fps. Maybe I should look into this contiguous files thing a bit deeper.
Could it even be the usb cable, strange though it would work on the slower rates if so.

I've had the same error on all 3 of my IS cams on occasion & never did find out officially what the cause was. A computer restart (or two) usually fixed the error for me.

I occasionally got a message similar to that and it usually turned out that i'd set the exposure longer than a few seconds (its not live view then ;) ). Are you doing your runs with the cap on the camera? If so then check you don't have autoexpose checked, it will extend the exposure time and bring up the message
Yep, at the moment I'm testing with the cap on. I have unchecked all the auto boxes and tried running it below 1/15 all the way down and still get the message. I've tried all my usb ports too.

Video mode....
From memory I think I use Y800 (?) uncompressed. Have a play with your video settings.
Al.
I can only choose Y800, it doesn't give me any other options unless I'm missing a different menu where I can change the modes.

:confuse3: Hmmm :confuse3: Probably a silly question, but have you downloaded the latest drivers from TIS?
Not a silly question at all, I downloaded the device driver for usb cameras and IC capture but that was it.
They do have other drivers for DFG/USB2, Video to USB converter and frame grabbers but I don't know if I need any of them. Maybe I do?
I got it s/h so there is no disc or instructions to tell me what ones I need.
Like I said though it is working fine on the PC.
edit: found the vid settings but still no change so far.

That should be all you need Jarrod.

Your lappy is not a real old clunker is it? Maybe running out of steam at 15 fps? I imagine it would have to be a REAL old clunker for that to be the case... I have a real old clunker (win 2000) that can run my ST8!
Al.
Thanks Paul, I did try the other drivers but none where what I needed.
Al, It is kind of old, maybe 6 or so years old at least and it could easily be the issue which I was actually prepared for it to be but I don't know really.
This is the specs of it and it does say upon checking the bare requirement is a pentium 2.0 so that's probably it.....
AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile TL-52 @ 1.6 GHz (dual core)
15.4-inch Ultrabright™ WXGA TFT (1280 × 800)
2048 MB 533 MHz DDR2 (2 × 1024) RAM
ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 Graphics
DVD+/-RW Multi-Format Double Layer (up to 8.5 GB)
160 GB 5400 RPM PATA hard drive
Windows Vista Home Premium
I should be thankful I can get 7 or 8 fps out of it really I guess.

Nah... that's NEW compared to what I'm talking about! I don't think that'd be your problem... dual core man! That gazzumps a pentium 2...

Jarrod,
When you come over to see the PST mod....
Bring your camera with you..
We can check it our on my set-up - I have the DMK41 firewire version but still use the USB on the DMK21.
Good to know I suppose although it does feel like a old beast sometimes.
I think I might try asimovs suggestion if I can't work it out.
edit: No worries Ken I can do that.

Just beware, Ken. You probably know... you need to have all cameras connected when you install the drivers or you will get errors;). i.e. you'll have to reinstall your driver(s) once the "new" camera is connected. I learned that the hard way:rolleyes:.
Al.
To be fair I don't think it's an issue with the camera as it works at 15 fps on the PC so it's probably a lappy issue.
I've got nightmares already about spending a week or so on a tech forum trying to clean the thing up.
