Very nice Anthony.

I'm quite interested in the Lumenera camera... particularly the model you're using. Can you tell me a little about it? How long you had it? How easy is it to use? What are the major challenges? Your overall impressions?

Very nice work, mate:thumbsup:

Nice work again Anthony, my preference is the 2nd image for sharpness, though it's a little too contrasty for my liking. Heaps of detail visible though, well done!

hey matt, please ask what Anthony paid for it before getting too interested!!!

It is a nice camera, Damien P uses lumenera, Chris Go and now Paul Haese have DMK's and Bird has his dragonfly. Lumenera seems to be the most expensive I believe.

Great image anthony, are you processing on a laptop LCD or CRT?

My preference is the first one.

Are you using a 2.5 powermate??

I know what they cost Dave.

But thanks for the question/budget advice:shrug:

I'll let you look after my pocket money, eh?

phew, i dropped my lunch when anthony let me know the cost for the first time and then again on the 2nd time. I was thinking a nice easy step up in performance and cost from a toucam!!

WRONG!!!!

Yes, financial dave will be happy to look after your money. financial dave has a degree in finance and a degree in time zones majoring in UT conversions.

So please forward your bank details immediately to asi & daves offshore investments, po box "SHAM", guatemala. not sure what time it is here, but we are certain to use (oops) i mean invest wisely!

Hi Matt

The Lumenera Lu075C (Colour) USB2 set me back about $1400 ( oops there goes your luch again David:rofl: ) in addtion to this you will need to use StreamPix to operate the camera, this software retails for about $1300. I have heard that the camera is now supported by Celestron's Nextimager software and may be K3CCD.

I find the camera easy to use, it is much like a webcam but better, more sensitive CCD, Higher frame rate, uncompressed video files and low noise makes for a great camera. I use to have a Logitech Pro 4000 webcam and could never get a decent image from it. See attached

The major challenges would be getting a computer with enough grunt, I use my wife's work laptop, an IBM Thinkpad, and focal ratio, I use a 5x Powermate for Mars and am currently using an UO Klee 2.8x Barlow for Saturn and Jupiter.

I like the camera but I should have gone for the monochrome version plus colour wheel, such as Damian Peach, maybe next time.

I hope I have answer some of your questions

Anthony
