Emerald (planetary nebula)

Hi all, this is a very small object, but as it had a designated name I had to have a go at it and see why. It is only 0.3' in diameter, and although mag 8.1, I could only manage exposures of 5 seconds as longer overexposed the internal colour. It is in the constellation of Ophiuchus.

This is 27 exposures with 14" SCT at F10 and Astro 40D at ISO 800.

Yes JJ, similar in some ways to the White-Eyed Pea nebula but with different colouring.

Very interesting Lester, I had this one chalked up for 4.3 meter FL with the sensitive Mintron cctv camera but to get structure it will be tough as it is so small.

Thanks Mike and John for your comments. Yes it could be an olive. John if you use filters with your camera, could be a chance to extract some more detail. All the best.
