Hey all,

I'm thinking of upgrading to a better (but still reasonably priced...damn those things get pricey.. :)) CCD camera, and ive been looking at Imaging Source cameras as a possibility, they fit my price range, reviews look good, etc.

At the moment, i tend to stick to planetary and Lunar photos, using mainly my 12" dob, but would like the option of longer exposures down the track when i upgrade scopes/mount, mortgage house etc... lol

I'm having trouble deciding which camera i need though, im looking to spend $500 max, and i was looking at the AU04.AS cameras, but ive got no idea whether i'd need the DMK, DFK, or DBK version...

Monochrome or colour (I'm thinking colour, as filters, filter wheels, etc will be added costs)??

IR cut filter or not? Not sure what this does, so im not sure if i need it or not.

If you have any suggestion for other brands/camera types around $400-$500, ill be happy to hear em..

:thanx: in advance for any help

There is another thread which suggests the GSTAR-EX at about the same price. I'm investigating for the same reason but yet to make my mind up, ... and find $$ of course.
