Wings of the Eagle - AG12

Yay! not a repro :prey2: :lol:

Managed a single clear night on Monday night (boss let me have the next day off so I could sleep)

This is a Hubble Palette inspired rendition that I hope you like. It is a little different as I had in mind an ice cold slightly gloomy detailed 3D'sh look :question:...I have sat on it for a couple of days fiddling here and there and seem to have grown fond of it now :P

As usual the seeing didn't cooperate (hopefully this scenario will improve in Canberra)

It's only 4.5hrs (started late and shed roof cut me short) of combined exposure but I think it has gone quite deep still.

Full 1.8deg X 1.8deg Frame at 50% to pan around:

Hope I can get out again soon, it was a great clear night in Newie collecting this data :prey:...except when the garage shed roof started to loom large as I was sinking into the west and madly trying to get the minscule amount of colour data I managed (RGB = 6 6 6min) before I was cut off...memories of Nyngan, in reverse....

Always a better composition or unique way of presenting an oft photographed nebula shows that someone really knows their craft. Hats off to you Mike as I love the composition and colours.

Thanks Mike, the colour palette is unusual I guess so some will raise an eyebrow but hopefully the overall expansive detailed vista makes it a little unique..?

I knew the colour palette would not totally appeal to some but sometimes I get an idea in my head and become more like an artist :lol: someting abouit the shape of the Neb said cold but detailed :question:



No worries JJJ glad you enjoyed it none the less....if you ever get narrowband filters...you will shift to the dark side :wink2:

It is images like these that make me both want to give up and try harder at the same time!
That swirl at the top of the neb, partially obscured by the dust, looks like an eye (or a sci-fi wormhole ;) )

Love the detail Mike, but I'm with Rick & JJJ on the colour. I've a lot to learn about NB processing (still to load the oxygen & sulphur filters into my camera - maybe this weekend) - but I'm not sure how the Hubble Palette "inspired" this rendition????

Nice one mate. I prefer the deep and wonderfully expansive full field view on this one. :thumbsup:

Can't say I'm thrilled with the colour though! I'm not just saying I don't like NB (I'm slowly warming to it), it just seems a bit flat. Perhaps some more vibrancy, contrast or even saturation to make it pop?

Can't argue with the incredible detail Mike - that's great! The colour bothers me though. Seems like you've over represented the OIII a bit but having said that there are no hard and fast rules with NB. To each his own.
