Hi Guys.

I spent the weekend at Nannup in southwestern WA at a dark sky site (girlfriends family farm) and thought I would have a go at a LMC/SMC widefield.
I took a test shot and was surprised to see so much light pollution.
It seemed to be coming from another small town, Pemberton, about 60 or 70k's to the south.
I gave up on imaging in that part of the sky and moved on to other targets.
But something didn't sit right on my mind, the amount of LP and the colour just seemed wrong.

I logged into IIS today to catch up with what's been happening and found Paul's (apaulo) thread (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=92433) for his Aurora Australis shot.... then it dawned on me what I had captured!

This is a single 7.5min image at 1600 ISO, Canon 60Da with 50mm prime lens @ f4 (I think?)
Only a simple levels adjustment done, then JPG from the RAW.

that is a beautiful shot. Well done.

You learn through experience, at least you'll know for next time.

Hi Simon,

Pretty good for a single shot.

Shows promise of an excellent image down the track.

Ross.
