As mentioned in the other thread, first ever go with my Atik 314L+ mono, cooled at -20, Atik filter wheel, the early type so took some doing getting the Maxim Dl to use it in an autosave sequence. Astronomik filters LRGB and a cheap Orion H alpha.
Guided with PHD, SSAG and a modified finder, imaging scope is the venerable Tak TSA 120. No dew control so was pretty liquid after a while.
L/Ha to RGB was 3:1 ratio , basic 300 sec, to 100 sec lights.
I reckon I was going for nearly five hours but clouds and family took a chunk out of the final. First time processing in PS as well. I tried my hand earlier with Star Tools and they looked fab on my sony laptop. Transferred to my mac and they looked a might green.
Anyway, for your enjoyment, with some fine wine and cheese, and a classic album on headphones, is my first LRGB Ha piccie of the Trifid . Reduced version.

Looks good!
Fairly sharp round stars, maybe a smidge over processed, but you would have to look hard to see it.

Slight green hue on the image though, or maybe it's my screen?
Noticed you made another thread regarding the green hue, so i ran your picture through PixInsight and did a SCNR - green removal.

:) I had a play with your image as well in CS3. Making adjustments using individual channels in Curves, Colour Balance and Saturation.
I hope you don't mind.

It's a lovely shot. Though as mentioned a tad over processed. Keep an eye on the stars in the middle of the neb and if they start to blow out, back off. :)

Triple Jnettie, thanks for that. I like it. Have to have more fun with the filters soon but waiting till I get a pier as the cables are bloody crazy with the whole lot. Thanks for the tips all.
