I drove to Nyngan (from Sydney) along with Joe Cali (from Canberra) to observe the transit, as weather on the coast was looking decidedly dodgy. The weather was perfect, although we did get clouded out for approx 1-2 mins during egress.

We had a variety of instruments, the attached mosaic was taken with a Canon 5D Mark II attached to an Orion 100 mm f/12.5 Maksutov, EFL = 1250 mm using Baader ND5 solar filter material. Exposures typically 1/320 s @ ISO 100. The unfiltered image (through clouds) was 1/8000 s.

greta to see that there was someone else in Nyngan - did you stay at the caravan park on the river?

Hey, crazy! Just read your posts then. Although given the forecast, for us east-coasters Nyngan was really the closest viable option.

Yes we stayed at the riverside caravan park. Surprisingly scenic location actually! Where were you guys?

Joe Cali also did an interview for BBC radio, they called him early in the morning, and then called again around 2pm local time to chat about it.

Ah ok. It was "full" when we got there (~7pm Tuesday), but the lady running it called up some people who had bookings but had not yet arrived, and luckily we were able to take one of their cabins!
