It is a great shot. Can I see Venus's gravity field distorting the image?

Thanks Paul, I was rather pleased with it given the wobbly conditions I had in the morning followed by loss of afternoon data following a software glitch!

Thanks David, planned to run for it after weekend weather reports were gloomy. Got away on Tuesday. Glad I did, as it removed the uncertanty.

Thanks Peter, yes the way it turned out I was pleased as I was not sure that the morning sessions data was good enough, but there was enough good seeing in the grab.

I made the 600km+ drive to Griffith as well - with a Meade LX90 8-inch. I setup on the lawn of the A-Line hotel and it all worked a treat. A truly memorable event. I decided on Monday as the 48-hour forecasts are usually accurate.

Hi Robin

Yes I and others noticed this effect and speculated atmosphere, but the scale was not right. The hi comopression jpeg version here makes that effect more pronounced.

I suspect it might be some sort of artifact from the stacking process. Remembering that this is a stack of about 150 images out of about 3000. So this was taken over about 3.5 minutes the disk would have moved considerably.

Thanks Stephen. Yes it was a bit of a lottery for most people within 200 kms of the coast around Sydney.
