I was just wondering about the possibliity of increasing the maximum image size we can post to IIS from 200kb to 250kb?

This would bring IIS in line with other sites that allow 250kb images, therefore reducing the need to save an image at a number of different sizes for different sites.

Is this something that could be considered please?

Thanks,
Jason.

I was thinking the same thing recently. Will have a look at it.

With today's larger format cameras, we might need as large as possible please. Some of my mosaics are getting huge. One is currently over 200MB just for the Blue image.

Even just 250 would be a significant help. Thanks for considering.

Another option (and/or including Jason's suggestion) - how about letting external images be shown directly inside the posts?

Dave,

That would be awesome, too. But, I think this has been discussed in the past... I think it was decided that it was more prone to abuse. :(

There's a few historical reasons we didn't allow images to be embedded:

- People can embed very large images and the user gets no choice as to whether they want to download them. We still have users on satellite broadband and bandwidth/usage is very important.

- It can break the layout of the forum with very large/wide images.

#2 may be preventable these days but #1 is still relevant.

In any case I'll discuss with Terry and we'll get back to you.

Yes, I would prefer that if external images could be embedded, that you could set a flag in your profile not to have them load, as on satellite it could both eat up all your allocation in a hurry and put you to sleep whilst waiting for the image to l-o-a-d....
