Hi All,

Here is the best result from my first movie capture on my 600D. I'm not sure what to expect but I'm a little disappointed:confused2:. I realise that its only a short capture of 25 secs and Lynkeos & I have chosen about 170 forms to form the image which is a relatively small amount however 600 frames doesn't make any noticeable difference. Captured through 2x Barlow, and 2x teleconverter, H-violet filter, 12" 1500mm skywatcher. Here are my thoughts am I close?
1. Need lots more imaging and take a higher grade of analysed images from the stack.
2. Get a dual speed focuser for better focusing
3. Reduce the amount of data being captured in each frame to highlight real data as opposed to glare.
4. Data capture using different filters my current choices Red, Green, H-violet and 30%ND

This is another image captured last night with red filter (obviously) this one through agent v5 webcam and 2x barlow and processed in registax 6. I think the detail is a bit better.

The seeing at the moment may be blurring the images - it's not good, so you will probably get a shock when the air clears

Thanks Jennifer, I can only hope, though I do feel there are a few things I could do better, ultimately practice , and a Dual speed focuser will make 'better'. PS I like the look of the SAS website.

Give this a shot http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Magic_Lantern_Firmware_Wiki still waiting on the 1100D port. I would check collimation, don't put your faith in a laser. Try a auto-collimator, cap, collimation eyepiece ect. and then a star test. Try an take your images when the target is at it highest in the sky, this will give less atmospheric turbulence and even help will light fog sessions. Poor mans fine focuser, Just get it roughly there and use a chop stick stuck to the focuser knob with some double sided tape lol. Try loosing that teleconverter and stick with barlows, also checkout your secondary it might be time for a dew heater, sure as hell is tonight at cranbourne lol.

Hi Jay, Had a good look at magic lantern, not exactly sure what its going to do for me? Though I admit its got some cool features. Collmination is good star tested ok. Visually I can see the division between the rings and several moons and cloud layers. I will loose the teleconverter I have done other experiments with the moon and a magnified image without it produces finer detail. I 'll have a late night when exams are over and see what I can produce. Interested in anybodies preferences for imaging stacking MOV. or AVI's on a Mac currently using Lynkeos I love its simplicity.
