Venus transit with Lunt 152mm H-alpha scope

Hi All,

Here is my take on the transit. Auckland Stardome recently acquired a beautiful Lunt 152mm H-alpha solar scope which I had the pleasure to play with last weekend :D It's also equipped with a Flea2 1600x1200.
I was at work during the transit, but the volunteers at Stardome captured 1 frame/sec for the purpose of automatically processing the best frames and publishing them live on their website.
I now got the raw data and had a go at combining the best frames into this image. It's only a stack of 100 frames, plus a seperate stack of 32 frames with Venus near 2nd contact, but still a nice view I think.

Nice Rolf! I can see a few processing/stitch lines but a lovely result.

Thanks Mike, yes I'm actually not sure why the lines are there because all the frames were nearly identical so no stitching was done...

I now have access to this lovely scope so I might venture into solar imaging too, exciting!

Thank you Dennis, it was great fun to try this. I have dabbled in solar imaging before with the ToUCam, but nothing at all like this.
BTW I really enjoy your white light shots, the detail is so impressive, keep it up! :)

Nice scope and some pretty good results. Going through the process of upgrading to a much larger scope right now, the 152 is definitely outside of my budget but did consider it for a moment or two.
